Turned out, Star Wars: Andor, the TV series is not that bad, as I expected. I have very low expectations for the franchise of Star Wars, after being disappointed for so many times already.
I like the universe, but most of the movies, if not all, are very kids-oriented, too much for my liking.
I like the game, SW: KotOR and its sequel, Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords. I even played it on my once-new iPad 3 (and it worked well).
But the movies— I don’t like most of them, unless I lower my expectations significantly.
Well, back to the prison. Since episode 8 or 9 (out of 12) they introduced a nicely-architectured prison. For me, that was the primary idea of the whole TV series.
I assume they, the TV series creators, had spent a massive amount of time by designing this location, thinking of its rules, etc. By exploring some prison experiments as well.
Unforunately, I’m quite familiar with the prison culture, as the whole russian (and Soviet too) so-called culture is one big prison, as their country is, a prison of nations.
So, it was interesting to observe the prison they showed us. The very clean one, I would even call it sterile. Of how disciplined the workers are, how not-authoritarian the floor commander is.
About him, Andor’s commander. That’s the most memorable moment of the entire series for me. I’m not very familiar with actors and most mainstream movies.
Kino Loy: A prisoner and floor manager at the Imperial factory facility on the moon Narkina 5.
‘We’ve seen him somewhere!’ I’ve exclaimed! ‘Where?!’
‘Oh, he played in many films’ my wife replied.
During the next few days, while we were watching these episodes, I tried to remember where I’ve seen this actor.
By the end of the episode 10, the last one with the actor, I’ve exclaimed once again: ‘Serkis! It’s Andy Serkis!’ I’ve been listening to his voice for 3 episodes already! And only now that I recognised him.
The funny thing here is that I’ve seen not a single film with the actor. The only series I’ve seen is where he played Gollum in both The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit films. But Gollum just looks differently!
I recognised him by his voice! I’m so much familiar with his marvellous audiobooks work. He voiced the Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, and The Silmarillion. I’ve listened to them at least a few times, and I think I’m in mood to just re-listen them again.
